Ooops, It's Been Awhile!!

Sorry I disappeared!!!  Life gets crazy and blogging is put on the back burner...but no  longer will this occur!  Well, at least that will be my intent.  I thought I would share a few of the rooms in the casa that are slightly done.  There are of course things I want to do, oh, so badly - but time and money must increase just a tad!  So here they are - welcome to the little glimpse of my world! Enjoy - xo.

Rock A Bye Baby...

We are so excited we cannot contain it!!! In honor of the big day on Monday where we will find out exactly what Baby Martin is - boy or girl... I have started to allow myself to research nursery ideas.  I was making myself not think about it too much, so it wouldn't turn into one of those - I have WAY too many options I just cannot decide issues.  But, since gender is determined Monday, and at that point I can make finalized nursery decisions....brainstorming has begun!!!

What's crazy is that I would have never guessed I would like yellow for a girl - but that was the main color in my favs.  Also, Scott and I are not traditional in any sense...so these modern nurseries are amazing!  I absolutely love using the peg board for organization...brilliant idea.  Let me know what you think - Enjoy, J.

A Walk-in/Reach-In Disaster!!

Wednesday morning, Scott and I were enjoying a morning cup of coffee while watching our new found love HGTV - we've never had cable before - and we heard this crazy crash come from the back of the house.  Of course, our first assumption was that the boys had gotten into something - but we found them like so...
Our Angels, Rufus and Freud...
After some careful investigation we found my closet had collapsed entirely.  Unfortunately, in my shock and disappointment, I didn't think of taking photos.  But, I was wanting to do something with the dreadfully small, kinda walk-in, mostly reach-in 5ft one straight bar, stark white closet.  The project just wasn't the first on my list, but it decided itself that it is my first project!

So, I did some brainstorming.  Obviously my dream would be to have something like Carrie's closet in Sex in the City, but as stated, its a 5 foot x 3 foot baby closet - dream denied.  So working within my price and renovation abilities, I found these "inspirations" - kinda...

Okay, this is kinda a stretch, too...

Last Choice, but probably EXACT closet size.

At this point, I'm going to have to patch up the drywall - posting on this to follow.  I will probably paint it a fun color - or maybe go out on a limb and wallpaper!  And lastly, I'm going to splurge on a new Rubbermaid Configuration Closet Kit (see below)!!  I'm super stoked on what the end result will be...

Rubbermaid Configuration Closet Kit - WOOHOO!!!

It's All in the Kitchen...

My first somewhat completed room is my kitchen.  I'm so stoked on having a relatively full sized kitchen, a luxury I've never had before.  In fact, one of our many kitchen was merely a hotplate, mini-fridge, and sideways sink!  Scott and I have even begun eating at the kitchen table... I really don't know what to do with myself!

The grey-blue color we chose compliments the dark wood cabinets perfectly, the white chairs and curtains brightly contrast all the blacks and browns, and my amazing yellow server adds a bit of fun to the room.  I would love to figure out something fun to do on my blank walls, both above the server and adjacent to the french doors, but that will happen with time.  For only moving in a few weeks ago, though, I'm happy with the current progress!  Enjoy the pics...

The Martin Mansion!!

Here is the moment you have all been waiting for... dun dun dun!!!  Scott and I have finally purchased our first home!  The house is absolutely amazing, but it needed a good dose of paint and sweet lovin'.  We have so many big hopes and dreams for our casa, unfortunately we cannot do them all at once.  We started with painting - these pictures below are mid project.  I'll let you and the house get familiar with one another before I continue sharing our changes!

Curb Appeal!!  Exterior will be painted...at some point!

The Living Room

The Kitchen!!  Wait until you see the "after" of this one.

Hot Water Heater... hehe... LAUNDRY!!!

The Office
BABY'S ROOM!!!
I didn't include the Master suite at all... Sorry!! Totally forgot before pictures, I think this was due to the fact that we had no light when I took these.  The "afters" will come with time!

I'm Back, Blog World!!

I'm so excited to be back to blogging!  Life became so busy, I just couldn't squeeze it in anymore...but things are slowing down.  Kind of.  Either way, I cannot stay away any longer!  Those of you who have been asking... "Where has 'Teacups & Wallpaper' been?"... Fear no more!  The author has returned.  I figured I would start fresh rather than having a crazy 6 month blog-posting-less gap, so, welcome to Mortar & Brick.  I hope through this glimpse into my world, you may begin to use creative mortar & bricks to build the spaces in your life!
